Honey Lake Clinic has the right people to help you start your journey to wholeness. We’re ready to help.

Mental health treatment atGraphic of a person's brain to represent them experiencing a TMS therapy program Honey Lake Clinic is never one-size-fits-all—every patient in our care is unique, and offering individualized care is at the heart of what we do. For patients who have not found relief from traditional treatments for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy offers a non-invasive and highly effective alternative. This innovative treatment uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain associated with mood regulation, resulting in improved symptoms that can last for months or even years.

Incorporating TMS therapy into our mental health therapy programs is just one way that we’re bringing the latest in evidence-based treatments to our patients. We take an approach to treatment that’s both clinically sound and Christ-centered, offering hope and healing for those struggling with mental health conditions like anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

How TMS Therapy Works

TMS therapy uses a magnetic device to deliver short pulses of magnetic energy to specific areas of the brain that are involved in mood regulation. The treatment is painless and non-invasive, with no impact on cognitive function or memory.

The goal of TMS therapy is to stimulate those areas of the brain that are underactive in people with depression or other mental health conditions. When these areas are stimulated, they can begin to function more normally, resulting in improved mood and symptoms.

TMS therapy is typically administered five days a week for four to six weeks, with each session lasting around 20-30 minutes. Some patients may need maintenance treatments every few months to maintain their results.

Is TMS Therapy a Replacement for Talk Therapy or Medication?

The short answer is no—while TMS therapy can be highly effective in treating mental health conditions, it’s not meant to replace other types of treatment. Instead, it compliments them. If you’re struggling with depression, for example, it can be difficult to focus on talk therapy. You might not have the energy or motivation to participate fully. TMS therapy can help lift that fog of depression, allowing you to engage more fully in talk therapy and make progress.

For some patients, TMS therapy may also reduce the need for medication, while for others, it may enhance the effects of medication. Our team will work with you to determine the best approach based on your unique needs and goals.

Benefits of TMS Therapy

Why do we offer TMS therapy at Honey Lake Clinic? Because we’ve seen firsthand the incredible benefits it can provide for our patients, including:

  • Highly effective – Studies have shown that TMS therapy can be highly effective in treating depression and other mental health conditions, often when other treatments have failed.
  • Non-invasive – Unlike electroconvulsive (ECT) therapy, TMS therapy does not involve anesthesia or cause seizures. It’s a gentler option that doesn’t require hospitalization or downtime.
  • Safe – TMS therapy is FDA-approved and has few side effects, which are typically mild and short-lived, such as headache or scalp discomfort.
  • Long-lasting – Many patients experience improvements in symptoms for months or even years after completing TMS therapy. Some may need occasional maintenance treatments to sustain their results.

With its high success rate and minimal side effects, TMS therapy is an attractive option for many of our patients struggling with treatment-resistant mental health conditions.
