1. Heroin can cause serious peripheral health issues.ย More than almost any other drug, heroin puts you at risk for several serious health problems not directly associated with the drug itself. 2. Heroin was once available in a number of different consumer products. Into the early part of the 20th Century, heroin was the active ingredient in a number of different products, including cough suppressants and morphine addiction curatives.

3. Heroin can be ingested several different ways. As mentioned already, the primary ways that someone generally ingests heroin include shooting the drug into their veins with a needle, sniffing or snorting the powder form of heroin, or smoking it.

4. The way people use heroin has changed in recent years.ย As recently as 15 years ago, over three quarters of allย heroin userstook the drug by injecting it. Today that number has shrunk to 65%, as the number of individuals snorting heroin grows.
