What Does Adult ADHD Look Like?

While the stereotypical image of ADHD may be a hyperactive child bouncing off the walls, the disorder can manifest differently in adults. For some, symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity may decrease with age, while difficulties with focus and organization continue to persist. Signs of adult ADHD may include:

  • Difficulty concentrating or staying on task for extended periods
  • Restlessness and trouble sitting still
  • Poor time management and difficulty completing tasks on time
  • Impulsive behaviors, such as interrupting others or making impulsive decisions
  • Chronic lateness or forgetfulness
  • Trouble prioritizing and managing responsibilities

Left untreated, ADHD can be a contributing factor to substance use issues, job loss, and relationship problems. Without addressing ADHD alongside any co-occurring mental health conditions, recovery can be challenging.

Our Approach to ADHD Treatment

We take a mind-body-spirit approach to treating mental health conditions like ADHD. That means that your treatment will encompass more than just talk therapy and medication management (though both can be essential components of a comprehensive treatment plan). We help patients develop healthy habits, like making sleep a priority, incorporating exercise into their routines, and learning how to manage stress in healthy ways.

Spiritual care is also a key part of our ADHD treatment program. God’s love is the most powerful force for transformation, and we integrate faith-based counseling and support into every aspect of treatment.

Our ADHD treatment program may include:

  • Individual therapy – Patients work one-on-one with a licensed therapist to explore the root causes of their ADHD and develop effective coping strategies.
  • Group therapy – Connecting with others who understand what it’s like to live with ADHD can be incredibly healing. Our group sessions provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment for patients to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build healthy relationships.
  • Medication management – For some individuals with ADHD, medication can be an essential tool in managing symptoms.
  • Recreational therapy – Engaging in activities like art therapy, an equine program, and other recreational activities can help patients explore their emotions, build self-esteem, and find joy in healthy hobbies.
  • Nutritional counseling – We believe that taking care of the body is a crucial aspect of mental health. Our team helps patients develop healthier eating habits and establish a positive relationship with food.

We invite you to experience the healing power of God’s love and find lasting freedom from ADHD.
