A Faith-Informed Treatment Model

While many programs give lip service to spirituality or divine power, at Honey Lake Clinic we help people re-engage their faith and spirituality as an integral part of health and wholeness.

Integrating this spiritual component, using a specifically Christian worldview to better inform the psychological and physiological spheres, our clients are able to explore and engage their faith in discovering renewed purpose, peace, joy, love and fulfillment.

Medical Detox

At Honey Lake Clinic, you’ll have medical and addiction professionals walk this path with you. You will be able to lean on experienced professionals who’ve done this, successfully, many times over. They know what to expect, how to respond, and have the necessary tools to help you at their discretion.

Depending on your addiction, certain medications may be helpful to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, allowing you to focus more clearly on the work at hand—getting sober. If needed, these medications will be prescribed, administered and monitored.

Physical Detox Withdrawal Symptoms
Serious and disabling symptoms of detox should give you pause about trying to go it alone. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe and need to be monitored by professionals. Physical symptoms include:

  • Restlessness and irritability
  • Agitation
  • Blood pressure increases to very high levels
  • Aches and shakes
  • Pulse increase with the stress of the withdrawal
  • The digestive system moves into crisis; diarrhoea is common
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Headaches, dizziness, and confusion
  • Tiredness, temperature changes in the body, hot and cold flashes
  • Shaking and cramping muscles

Psychological Symptoms
There are also serious psychological symptoms to consider, including:

  • Hallucination
  • Intense cravings
  • Anxiety
  • Feeling like your body is coming apart
  • Mood swings from depressed to hopeless to suicidal
  • Paranoia with hallucinations which can escalate into defensive actions

Dual Diagnosis and Mental Health Services

Dual Diagnosis and Mental
Health Services

Many people who struggle with addiction also have a co-occurring mental health condition such as anxiety or depression. In order to provide the right treatment, an accurate dual diagnosis is needed. For patients with a dual diagnosis, the most promising treatment incorporates care for addiction and the co-occurring mental health disorder at the same time.

“The biggest mistake families make when it comes to getting their loved one into residential alcohol or substance rehab is not acting soon enough.”

Residential Treatment to Aftercare Planning

Residential Treatment to
Aftercare Planning

By recalling distressing events and diverting attention from their emotional consequences, EMDR borrows principles used in prolonged exposure therapy, the standard behavioral psychotherapeutic treatment of PTSD.

Honey Lake Clinic’s residential treatment program will give you the tools necessary for you to experience life beyond your addiction. Addiction, however, doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Many of the factors which contributed to your addiction will be waiting to confront you when your treatment is complete.

As you near completion of the residential portion of your recovery, members of your team will help you determine next steps. Honey Lake Clinic maintains a vital network of more than 300 nationally recognized step-down programs. We will assist you in finding the best fit for your particular needs.

As healing happens in community and not in isolation, you’ll also be assisted and encouraged in assembling a three-legged stool of support—an authentic church community to call home, a strong Christian therapist or counselor to talk to, and a support group to join.
