Karl Benzio, M.D.

Founder and Chief Psychiatric Officer

Dr. Benzio, Founder & Chief Psychiatric Officer, is a Board-certified psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his MD from Rutgers Medical School and a B.S.E. in biomedical engineering from Duke University with a focus on brain imaging. He specializes in decision-making sciences and Christ-centered psychiatric care. With a background in addiction medicine and trauma recovery, he designed the transformative model we use at Honey Lake to help patients align clinical treatment with biblical truth and spiritual renewal. He has also served as consultant and expert witness to the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court.. Dr. Benzio also serves on Focus on the Family’s Physician Resource Council and as Medical Director of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

We provide separate, thoughtfully designed spaces for our patients, ensuring each person can heal with dignity, privacy, and safety. Our patients reside in spacious, comfortable accommodations tailored to rest and recovery. Our accommodations feature comfortable semi-private double-occupancy rooms where each patient has their own comfortable queen sized bed and adjoining bathrooms. Private rooms are available for an additional fee. As a former 5-star resort, our facility maintains high-quality amenities while creating an incredibly successful healing environment. The campus includes beautiful lakes, walking trails, and peaceful spaces for reflection.
